A 23-year old student of Bluecrest University College in Accra, Bright Morkli, has appealed to the public to support him with GH?16,000 to enable him complete a four-year programme at the school.
Sharing his challenges with the Ghanaian Times yesterday in Accra, he said he was forced to defer the final two years of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) programme he was pursuing due to his parent’s financial constraints.
“My parents took care of the fees for the first year. They were also able to pay fully the fees for first semester of the second year. Unfortunately, because they were only able to raise GH?1, 700 of the GH?3,500 fee for the second semester, I was unable to partake in the end of semester examinations. I was then forced to defer the programme altogether,” he stated.
For him to restart schooling and realise his ambition of becoming a Computer Programmer, he Master Bright, who was in the company of his father, Mr Emmanuel Kwami Mentor Morkli, said he needed about GH?16,000 to pay for the fees on the remaining two academic years and arrears of the previous year.
“I am appealing for support from all Ghanaians to help me complete my programme and become the Computer Programmer I dream of becoming,” he added.
Master Bright further asked businesses operating in the IT space for internship opportunities to build upon his expertise in computer data analysis and programming.
Mr. Morkli, a 62 year old retiree, said although he desires to see his son grow to achieve his dreams of becoming an IT expert, he was presently in a dire financial state and could not pay for the fees.
“All I desire is to see him go through his education so he can be empowered to contribute his quota to Ghana’s development. Unfortunately, it has been difficult for me to provide the required financial backing currently,” he stated.
As a global development pillar, he said IT was the new means to achieving national development and appealed to the public for support to upgrade his son’s skills and knowledge in the field.
Members of the public who wish to donate to support Master Bright should kindly pay into the Times Needy Fund at UBA Bank with the account number -00103068701511.
