Workers of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who were told to report to work yesterday, were left disappointed as the secretariat remained under lock with a fresh barricade tape.
The decision to report to work yesterday followed last Thursday’s assurance from Dr. Kofi Amoah, chairman of the joint FIFA/CAF Normalisation Committee to get the place set for work to commence.
The Times Sports, however, yesterday spotted about 10 workers of the GFA who reported for work as of 10:28 am only to be disappointed by the development.
One of the disappointed workers told this paper that after the announcement of the Normalisation Committee on Thursday, the chairman of the committee, Dr Amoah through the protocol officer Mr Alex Asante communicated to a handful of staff who were around to report for work on Tuesday, September 18.
“We were told to report today but with what I have seen over here I am really disappointed,” he said.
Security personnel this paper spoke to confirmed that there were about 10 workers who reported at the facility but had to go back due to the situation.
He revealed that personnel of the CID, who had spent close to four months at the facility to prevent any entries, left the premises over the weekend.
However, they have not taken off the barricade tape used to cordon off the building.
The offices of the GFA was locked and taken over by personnel of the Criminal and Investigative Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service last June, after it was described as a crime scene.
