Two missing teenagers, Bernard Tetteh, 5, and Siron Ahluttey, 11, were on Monday handed over to the Neoplan Police Station at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange in Accra by traders.
According to the traders, the two children looked confused while strolling around the Neoplan station at about 7pm with.
Upon interrogation, they noted that the teenagers had lost their way to the area after they escaped from their guardian’s home at Labadi in Accra.
The children admitted later to the police that they were on the run because of continuous abuses suffered at the hands of their guardians.
They therefore wanted to visit their mother who was living in Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
Further checks by Ghanaian Times revealed that Kwaku Frimpong and Tei Rockson, said to be the guardians of the wards, had also reported missing of the children to the La Police Station.
Police source at the Neoplan Station said the matter had been referred to the La Police Station for further investigations as the guardians had already filed a complaint with them.
Mr. Frimpong told Ghanaian Times that the children were not homeless and had not been abused as they claimed.
