In the quest to redevelop Accra High School, the oldest secondary school in Accra, the alumni body has cut the sod for the construction of a modern entrance project for the school.
The project, which is being fully funded by the Accra High School Old Students Association (AHISCOSA), caps a series of development assistance offered by the alumni to the school this year.
The project, which involves the construction of a main gate edifice and the rehabilitation of roads on campus, paves way for a major facelift for the school.
It is expected to be completed in November 2018 to coincide with the school’s 95th anniversary celebration.
Amidst excitement among the teachers and old students, known as “Onukpai,” the leadership of AHISCOSA and school management jointly cut the sod.
Mr Edmund Kofi Duffour Addae, National President of AHISCOSA, in his remark, expressed the commitment of the alumni body to support their alma mater to secure the needed facilities benefiting the school as a centre of excellence.
“We are committed to the cause of redeveloping the school to enable it maintain its status as the school of choice in Greater Accra,” he said.
Mr Kobina Baidoo, Headmaster of AHISCO, for his part, expressed appreciation to the old students for the continued support, adding that the infrastructural facelift would enable the school to achieve more.
He also assured the alumni of the commitment of the teachers and school’s management do more in order for the school to enhance the high academic standard in the school for the benefit of students.
