Mr Ricketts-Hagan
A flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Ricketts- Hagan has assured his sympathisers and well wishers who are asking him to step down from the presidential race in order not to be killed that he is up to the task.
This appeal is due to the fact that two Fantes in the presidency have lost their lives.
Mr Ricketts-Hagan indicated that “if you kill thousands of Fantes another thousand will come, if God did not kill me no human being can get rid of me.”
He was speaking to the media shortly after a clean-up exercise organised by the NDC past executives and activists within Cape Coast South led by Mr. Ricketts-Hagan to clean the principal streets of Cape Coast.
He said he doesn’t have any problem with those in the NDC flagbearership race not even with his former boss, former President John Mahama.
Mr Ricketts-Hagan hinted that though the Fantes have lost two prominent persons doesn’t mean that they don’t have anyone to fight for the presidency adding that, “nobody can intimidate me from the race since my vision and view is different from the others.”
He called on his competitors to desist from politics of insults but inform the electorate of what they are capable of doing.
Mr. Ricketts-Hagan, who served as the Deputy Minister of Finance and Central Regional Minister under former President Mahama, prayed that the ancestors and people in Cape Coast rally behind his presidential fight to redeem the good image of Fantes.
“I don’t hate Mahama but NDC is a democratic party when it comes to competition to prove to Ghanaians that NDC have strongmen and the party needs a leader of integrity who can be trusted by Ghanaians without any shred of doubt.
“The NDC as a party has gone contrary to its core values and beliefs, leading the party to defeat during the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, we have gone off track, the party was formed on some principles and values,” Mr Ricketts-Hagan pointed out. –mynewsgh.com
