Mr Kokofu
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has chided the youth for misapplying vigilantism and propaganda in the country.
According to him, the actual sense of vigilantism and propaganda is not negative, but is being applied out of context and asked them to reverse the trend.
“Vigilantism, as is practised in the advanced world, is used in protecting communities and ensuring law and order or complimenting the efforts of law enforcement agencies,” he stressed.
He bemoaned the kind of vigilantism being practised by the youth and called for a stop to acts of lawlessness and vandalism in the name of vigilantism.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time when the country is faced with negative acts of violence and vandalism by youth groups of political parties, I recommend stiffer punishment for culprits as a way of addressing the menace,” Mr Kokofu noted.
The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Wahab Adam, called for a stop to political party vigilantism in order to ensure peace, stability and accelerated development. –mynewsgh.com
