The Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah has held a successful discussion with the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Ahmad Ahmad in Madagascar over issues relating to Ghana football.
Last week, the continent’s football governing body called a crisis meeting with the Sports Minister to discuss the country’s hosting of the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship that has been hit by severe delays with just three months left to start the competition.
This follows concerns that the CAF will strip Ghana of the right to host the women’s flagship competition after an inspection visit by the governing body was said to be unimpressed over the progress of work.
The meeting seemed to have arrived at an amicable conclusion after Dr Ahmad pledged support for government’s bid to clean and sanitise Ghana’s football following revelations of evidence of corruption and misconduct in the game.
The CAF president also expressed optimism of Ghana’s ability to host the 11th Africa Women’s Championship this year in November.
This erases all concerns and unsubstantiated reports of Ghana risking losing the hosting rights of the 2018 AWCON
