Issaku Zibrim, a self styled national security officer who allegedly robbed a businessman of GH¢70,000 in Accra, has been remanded into police custody by the Accra Circuit Court “One”.
The accused pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and robbery and would appear again today.
His accomplices are currently at large and being sought for by the police.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court presided by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh that Zibrim and his accomplices attacked the complainant and others who were working on a land.
He said in July 2017,the accused and others held Zibrim hostage and took GH¢30,000 as ransom before they released him.
Chief Insp. Adu said the accused threatened to kill the complainant if he reported the case to the police.
The court heard that in February 2018, one Simon and others, all on the run went to the land and demanded for additional GH¢40,000, adding that Zibrim gave them the money for the fear of losing his life..
He said on April 6, 2018, Zibrim and his friends went to the land and attacked the workers.
Following from that, the complainant reported the case to the police and the accused was arrested.
