Thomas Muller has been ruled out of Germany‘s final Euro 2020 group-stage game against Hungary and could be in doubt for the last-16.
Muller, 31, suffered ‘a capsular injury in his knee’ during the final stages of Germany’s 4-2 victory over Portugal on Saturday, according to reports.
The extent of his injury has not yet been revealed but it is believed Muller will miss out on the chance to secure his nation’s qualification for the next round on Wednesday.
According to SPORT1, Muller sustained the injury in the final minutes of Saturday’s fixture.
Germany tore Portugal apart with an impressive attacking performance that saw them win 4-2 in Munich.
The result has thrown Group F wide open, with both sides sitting on three points – putting them one behind behind leaders France.
Therefore, the importance of Wednesday’s match is greater than ever – leaving manager Joachim Low sweating over Muller’s replacement.
According to SPORT1, Muller will not be fit for the all-important fixture against Hungary and could even miss out on their last-16 game.
