Head coach of Asante Kotoko SC, Mariano Barreto sounds unimpressive about his players performance despite humbling lower tier side Thunderbolt FC last Saturday in the MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors recorded a resounding 3-1 triumph over the second division outfit at the Okese Park.
In their quest to defend their title, the ‘Kum Apem’ lads are already in the round 16 and will wait for their next opponent as they anticipate to clinch double in the ongoing campaign.
In a post match-interview with Max TV, Mariano Barreto look not impressed with their output stating they can only win matches with hard work and discipline and not just putting on the Kotoko shirt.
Again, he noted that, this is the set of players at his disposal now and cannot bring Ronaldo or Messi to play for the club.
“I told my players since the beginning I came here that the shirt don’t win the match, if we want to win, we have to work hard and be disciplined.
“I really don’t care about which team am playing with, my role is to educate my players and coach them.
“I don’t feel worry playing any team because if we win against Karela and lose the next two matches then it got us nothing”, he concluded
Kotoko will now shift their attention to winning the league as they begin serious preparations towards their crunchy clash against Karela United this Wednesday at the Len Clay Stadium.
