Residents of Boete in the Obuasi East District of Ashanti region were last week Friday thrown in a state of shock following the alleged murder of a 5-year-old boy, Maxwell Amoako, by one Emmanuel Adjei, 21.
He allegedly killed the boy, whom he suspected to be haunting him spiritually.
Speaking to the media, Emmanuel Adjei explained that the victim and his mother had been tormenting his life spiritually by having sexual affair with him and sometimes manifesting it physically.According to him, he acted out of frustration and anger.
Adjei stated that following consultations with witch doctors, it was confirmed the boy and his mother are the brain behind his condition.
The tenant is said to have strangled the boy till he gave up the ghost, after which he hid the lifeless body under his bed and run to Christ Foundation Evangelical Church Pastor, Abraham Yaw Antwi, for succour, upon confession of the heinous crime.
The suspect is reported to have pleaded with the pastor to call the police to arrest him to avoid being lynched.
Superintendent Emmanuel Issaka, the crime officer, confirming the sad incident stated that it happened around 11:30 am last Thursday, when one Kwadwo Amoako, the father of the boy, reported to the police that his 5 year old son was missing.
Mr. Amoako later came and informed the police that the boy was found dead under one of his tenant’s bed.
He further revealed that the accused absconded to a nearby town, called Diawuoso, but has been arrested and is being kept in the custody of the Obuasi central police station, pending autopsy of the body.
Meanwhile, residents of Boete are very furious and are asking the police to release the accused person for them to deal with him in equal measure.
