Residents of Mpatasie in Berekum East Municipality in the Bono Region have expressed regret over the refusal of the assembly to evacuate a refuse heap in the community that has been in existence for more than five decades.
According to the residents, several attempts made to get the Assembly to come to their aid have proved futile.
The Assembly Member for Mpatasie/Peepaase Electoral Area, Kyereh Gabriel, disclosed that three big heaps of refuse sited in the middle of the town posed threats to the health of the residents.
Noting that the electoral area was the biggest in the Municipality, the Assembly Member appealed to the Municipal Assembly to immediately help solve the sanitation challenges facing them.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Kofi Agyei, is yet to assign reasons for the Assembly’s inability to evacuate the refuse.
