The Obuasi Circuit Court has sentenced an 18-year-old student of Asare Bediako Senior High School to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour.
DSP Martin Asenso, Obuasi Municipal Police Commander, explaining the conviction of the student, said on April 8, 2021, Michael Dakorah, a General Arts student, and his accomplice mentioned only as Bullet, hired one Bernard Appiah, a commercial motorbike rider, from Kwapia to Aketekyieso.
According to him, half way through the journey, Bullet asked the rider to stop, to which he obliged only for the duo to spray pepper into his eyes and robbed him.
Michael Dakorah, aka Plug, before fleeing the scene also threatened the victim with a knife.
The police chief said Appiah, the motorbike rider, reported the incident to the people of Aketekyieso and Kwapia, who laid ambush and arrested Micheal Dakorah, while his accomplice, Bullet, is still on the run.
The convict was subsequently put before the Obuasi Circuit Court, presided over by Joyce Boahen, who found the suspect guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
