Health care delivery personnel in the Asene Manso Akroso District have launched a passionate appeal to the government, Regional Health Directorate, religious groups, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) to come to their aid.
This came to light when the District Health Director for Asene Manso Akroso, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Ansah, took his turn to give an overview of progress of the health directorate during the District General Assembly Meeting.
Speaking to the Eastern File, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Ansah expressed worry over the lack of some basic medical equipment like thermometers, BP apparatus, and beds among others at the health centers.
According to him, health delivery would be undermined if support for basic medical equipment with a corresponding facelift and renovation to some health centers in the district are not seriously looked at.
He explained that some of the health facilities are too small in size, whilst others need facelifts and renovation to enhance health delivery, for example, the Anomabo Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.
Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Ansah added that accommodation for health workers was another difficult challenge; a situation that has compelled his colleagues to reside at different places, which often delays their reporting to work on time to attend to patients.
Notwithstanding the difficult situation, the Asene Manso Akroso District Health Director commended the Assembly for the immense support on measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic in the district.
He stated that the District Directorate, together with the District Assembly, had agreed to slap a fine of GH¢20.00 on persons who flout the Covid-19 protocols, adding that the district had recorded 64 Covid-19 cases, but all those affected had recovered.
