NDC fraught with social democrats with capitalist hearts -Senior Cadre

Mr. Clement Sangaparee, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and member of the Obuasi branch of the United Cadres Front, has observed that the bane of the party was that it was fraught with more social democrats harbouring capitalist hearts.

“Our problem in the NDC is that we have so many social democrats with capitalist hearts,” the senior cadre noted.

Reacting  to the  controversial recently-launched book, “Working with Rawlings”, authored by a former Local Government Minister, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, Mr. Sangaparee said Prof. Ahwoi’s position on the issues raised in the book was right after all, stressing: “The Rawlingses taught cadres to speak the truth, and Kwame Ahwoi has spoken the truth.”

Expressing his views about the book in a four part presentation headed “PROFESSOR KWAMENA AHWOI IS RIGHT AFTER ALL”, Mr. Sangaparee indicated that many Ghanaians still revere Jerry Rawlings now and see him as part of Ghana’s past, rather than its future.

“Professor Kwame Ahwoi is 100% right. Kwamena Ahwoi did nothing wrong, he only wrote the facts, period! And Rawlings, as an elder statesman, must accept it, because Kwamena Ahwoi is not a liar or a controversial man.”

“Rawlings should rather come out with his Triumph of Evil and not keep it under the carpet, because that is the beauty of democracy.”

According to him, Rawlings himself was responsible for the change in his standing, because his own words and actions had severed him from his legacy.

As a result, Jerry John Rawlings has been facing an extremely difficult battle to regain his former place in Ghanaian politics, since his feud with the late President Mills in 2010.

Sangaparee noted that there were too many newcomers who had joined the great NDC, who cannot be counted as Peoples Defence Committees (PDCs) or Workers Defence Committees (WDCs) members, and who always speak before they think and continue to eat with both hands whenever the NDC is in power and with extreme greed.

The senior cadre explained that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, contested former President Mills in order to right the wrongs in the NDC, after claims by Mr. Rawlings that the Mills administration was deviating from the core principles of Probity Accountability and Social Justice.

The NDC guru also noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) never won the 2016 elections, but the NDC was rather complacent and handed power over to it.

He urged the NDC to unite or perish, as some leading members who pretend to support John Mahama are rather preparing for victory in 2024.

The cadre also noted that it was a big mistake for some NDC people to think of side-lining Rawlings, because the only thing that will take him off politics is death, adding that even then, the torch that Rawlings lit will continue to burn long after he is gone.

According to the founding member, after launching an extreme sacrificial revolution, Jerry John Rawlings set the standard for judging others much higher than for himself, noting that Rawlings did not work with saints during the 31st December revolution.

Mr. Sangaparee, however, stated: “We (cadres) are watching with eagle eyes those who want to change the NDC to CPP to take control of it and do away with Rawlings.
