A magnificent edifice has been constructed by Nana Appiagyei Dankah, Chief of Atwima Kyekyewere, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, for use as a police station.
The GH¢400,000 police station comprises a conference hall, three cells, a store, four offices, ammunitions room, and a two-room apartment as residential accommodation for the senior police officer.
Unveiling the new building amidst fanfare, Nana Appiagyei Dankah, sole financier of the project, said it was his personal contribution towards beefing up security in the area to protect lives and property, as a result of the rising cases of robbery attacks in the community.
Nana Dankah, who was enstooled two years ago, pointed out that he had lined up other development projects for the town.
The Chief appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, and other stakeholders to, as a matter of urgency, commission the project for the police to assume duty as early as possible, in order not to let it go waste.
He also appealed to the government to expedite the tarring of the road network linking the town to other neighbouring communities, which has been abandoned by the contractor for the past two years.
According to him, the present situation makes live unbearable during both the rainy and dry seasons.
Nana Dankwa also called on indigenes of the community, both at home and abroad, to contribute to the development of the area.
In a related development, Nana Appiagyei Dankah has completed the construction of a GH¢500,000 palace for the community in memory of the past traditional leaders.
