The Global Obuasi Citizen Association (GOCA), made up of selected Obuasi citizens (home and abroad), has provided a day’s lunch pack, branded cups, and pens worth GH¢17,000 to the staff of seven hospitals and clinics in Obuasi.
The Spokesperson for the association, Mr. Richard Ellimah, said at the presentation ceremony that the donation was to show their appreciation for the sacrifices being exhibited by the health professionals since the upsurge of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We are grateful to you for your sacrifices, and as an association, this is the time to show our appreciation for all that you have done and continue to do for the people of Obuasi,” he said.
“You have really done exceedingly well, even at the peril of your lives, to save the entire Obuasi citizens, and, therefore, on behalf of GOCA both home and aboard, I present the food, cups and pens to you,” Mr. Ellimah added.
The Medical Superintendent of the Obuasi Government Hospital, Dr. Kwadwo Nyarko-Jectey, on behalf of the staff of the beneficiary health institutions, thanked the association for the donation.
“The donation shows that those we serve appreciate the services we are providing to stem the spread of the pandemic in Obuasi, and we are forever grateful,” Dr. Nyarko-Jectey said.
