The Intensive Care Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has received three ventilators and a suction machine from two corporate institutions.
Contracta Construction UK Limited donated two of the ventilators with their monitors, and a suction machine valued at €60,000, while Ghana Oil (GOIL) also donated the third ventilator at the cost of GH¢150,000.
Mr. Jorge Tavares de Almeida, Project Director of Contracta, said the donation, which comes under its corporate social responsibility, is aimed at supporting the fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The General Manager (Middle Belt) of GOIL, Mr. Augustine Boateng, said GOIL, as an indigenous business entity, was committed to the safety of its clients, including KATH, hence the support to help curb the pandemic.
Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, Chief Executive Officer of KATH, indicated his appreciation to the donors, who he described as important stakeholders, saying the ventilators had come at an opportune time to help with the clinical management of the critically ill, especially in the management of the COVID-19.
