An elder of the Pentecost Church, Divine Osei Mintah, has declared his bid to contest the Asokwa parliamentary seat in the December polls as an independent candidate.
Elder Divine Osei Mintah is the Chief Executive Officer of Divine Electrical Building Construction Company Limited.
He told The Chronicle that his support from the indigenes of Asokwa follows their quest for a change, claiming the sitting Member of Parliament, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, had failed to deliver on her mandate.
The aspirant said his intention is to unseat Madam Patricia Appiagyei, also known as Mama Pat by her admirers, because she had failed the entire constituency, hence, the need to redeem the constituents from under development.
The Electrical Engineer from the Ghana Telecom University, said since the party leadership had failed to resolve internal issues prior to the primary, he decided to contest the seat to save the situation.
Elder Osei Mintah observed that Mama Pat had lost touch with the people she represents in Parliament, which is why the masses had endorsed his candidature to unseat her in the December 2020 elections.
According to the Church Elder, the people are yearning for real change hence his bid to provide the needed relief.
Mr. Kwabena Agyei, Public Relations Officer for Elder Osei Mintah, corroborated the position of Elder Mintah – that they had all contributed to bring Mama Pat as their MP, but she had not delivered to warrant a second term.
Mr. Agyei mentioned that areas like Atonsu, Ahinsan, Bokuro Last Stop, Wood Village, Nahinso, Estate and Kaase among others as lagging behind development, and called on the constituents to vote the sitting MP out to see proper development.
