The Assembly Member for the Asafo Electoral Area in Kumasi, Mr Ernest Okai, has appealed to the Ashanti Regional Security Council (ARESEG), the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) amongst other stakeholders to help eradicate prostitution and other crimes in his electoral area.
According to Mr. Okai, though crime is a universal problem the world is dealing with, the current criminal activities going on in his electoral area are getting out of hand and must, therefore, be dealt with expeditiously.
Asafo BB, a popular suburb in the electoral area, has become the hub for prostitution and hardened criminal activities in the Kumasi Metropolis.
In a statement seeking the intervention of the aforementioned stakeholders, Mr Ernest Okai explained that life in Asafo is turning upside down and people are becoming apprehensive each passing day.
“My people are worried of every day theft, robbery and snatching of their phones,” he said, and cautioned foreigners who are engaged in the sex trade to put a halt to it with immediate effect.
