Mohammed Yakubu aka Jordan, an employee of National Security, is helping the Tema Regional Police Command to investigate the circumstances that led him to lead ten motor riders and their pillion riders to the residence of the Corporate Finance Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Mr Tebon Zumah, at Community 12 on Sunday, this week.
The frightening incident occurred around 5pm when it was heavily raining. Mr Zumah, who confirmed the police probe into the issue, told The Chronicle that he was at home when he saw the motorbikes, its riders, and pillion riders in front of his house taking pictures.
The GPHA Finance Manager told The Chronicle that a member of the local watchdog committee, who he named only as Mike aka Nyame Nipa, who saw what was going on, approached the strangers and enquired from them if he could be of any help.
The harmless approach surprisingly infuriated the gang members, who grabbed and beat him mercilessly. Zumah continued that after attacking the watch dog committee member, he saw that the gang had started scaling over his wall and he quickly called in the police.
When The Chronicle contacted the Regional Police Headquarters, the paper was told that Jordan claimed he had secured a Power of Attorney from his sister to collect an amount of $1.5 million from a debtor, but mistakenly strayed to the frontage of Zumah’s house.
The Regional Crime Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Paul Kissi Frimpong, who confirmed that they were investigating the case, stated that the National Security outfit sent an officer to Tema to affirm that Jordan is indeed their employee.
According to him, the suspect produced documents to substantiate his claim of being in possession of the Power of Attorney from the sister. ACP Frimpong went on that his outfit was probing to get to the bottom of the case.
Mr Frimpong, however, denied social media reports that upon a search on Jordan’s black Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle, military uniforms, guns, ammunition, foreign currencies, multiple complimentary cards related to His Excellency the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo, and bundles of MTN and Vodafone unused scratch cards were found.
Information gathered by the paper indicates the people were really scared because of the gruesome murder of the former Public Affairs Manager of the same GPHA, Mrs Josephine Asante, at her Emefs Hillview Estate near Afienya, about two years ago.
