The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn into office, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye as Deputy Minister of Health.
The swearing in followed a unanimous approval by Parliament last Friday, on his nomination.
At Jubilee House on Monday, President Akufo-Addo administered the Oath of Office, Allegiance and Secrecy, as part of the swearing in ceremony.
In his brief remarks thereafter, the President commended Dr. Okoe-Boye for his appointment and urged him to bring his expertise to bear on the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The President said, Dr. Okoe-Boye’s appointment, had come at a better time when the country needed more experts in the field of health to communicate effectively and help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The President expressed confidence that the Deputy Minister, Dr Okoe-Boye, will partner and support his substantive Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu and to effectively deal with the pandemic.
On his part, Dr Okoe-Boye pledged to put in all his energy, time and all the “things I have learnt on the job to make sure that we win this war. For the war, we are going to win, the only thing we don’t know is how long it will take and we all have a role to play in shortening the recovery time.”
Dr. Okoe-Boye is the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku constituency, in the Greater Accra Region.
Until his appointment as a deputy Health Minister, he was the Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
