Some eighty three (83) persons who had contracted the novel coronavirus, have recovered and discharged, according to the Ghana Health Service.
Earlier, seventeen (17) recoveries were reported, with the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah indicating that other sixty six (66) persons were waiting for their second results after testing negative for the first time.
“…Furthermore, 66 have tested negative once and awaiting second test. This brings together a total of 83 cases that have been recovered / discharged,” the GHS published on its website.
The 83 were part of the total number of active Covid-19 cases the country was dealing with since the virus broke out in Ghana.
On their website around 23:30HRS, April 15, 2020, the Ghana Health Service announced that Ghana had recorded a total of six hundred and forty-one (641) positive cases, an increment from the six hundred and thirty-six (636).
The breakdown of the 641 positive cases are as follows: “seventeen (17) have been treated, reverted to negative on repeat tests and discharged. Furthermore, 66 have tested negative once and awaiting second test. This brings together a total of 83 cases that have been recovered / discharged. 548 cases have been categorised as mild disease and are on treatment, two (2) are categorized as moderate to severe cases, none in critical state currently and eight (8) have died,” the GHS stated on their website.
The positive cases were as a result of the fifty thousand, seven hundred and nineteen (50,719) tests conducted across the country for the virus.
