The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly is to coordinate activities with five neighbouring assemblies to stop the spread of the dreaded coronavirus disease. The Municipal Chief Executive, Simon Kweku Tetteh, who disclosed this in a telephone conversation with The Chronicle named the assemblies as Lower Manya Krobo, Upper Manya Krobo, Yilo, Asuogyaman and Shai Osudoku.
According to Mr Kweku Tetteh, the coordination has become necessary because of the similarities in economic and social activities in these geographical areas.
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has barred drinking bars/amusement centers from operating after 8pm effective April 11, 202. The operation of ‘abolo’ sellers at Kpong and visits to Agormanya market are also being regulated.
The Chief Executive explained that with these restrictions in place, it would be appropriate to link up with the neighborhood assemblies in order to achieve the ultimate.
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has recorded 31 out of the 32 cases in the Eastern Region.
The patients, all expatriate Indians engaged in the construction of the Tema-Mpakadan railway are being kept in isolation at their work camp site now under tight security.
The construction company’s workers are resident in all the five neighbouring assemblies.
In a related development, the Manya Krobo Traditional Council has set up a fund to fight the raging deadly virus.
The Paramount Chief of the traditional area, Nene Sakite II, who signed a release to that effect called for support from all citizens and beyond.
