The Secretary of the Mortuary Workers of Ghana (MWG), Mr Richard Jordan, has urged the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to make provisions that would allow families who have lost their dear ones during this period to find a final resting place for them.
The call of the Secretary comes from the background that there are no spaces in the morgues to accommodate dead bodies.
He explained that, the overwhelming situation, if not addressed immediately, would cause pandemonium across the various morgues in the country.
Speaking on Kessben TV, a Kumasi-based private television station during a programme dubbed “Breaking News “ hosted by Ali Baba, Mr Jordan was of the view that the advice, if adhered to and applied, would help prevent an imminent lack of space at the various morgues in the country.
Proposing some measures, Mr Jordan hinted that the government could allow about 15 or so family members to carry out a mini funerals for the burial of their lost ones.
He continued that following lack of space at the various morgues, they improvised preservation by putting the dead bodies vertically instead of horizontal laying.
To him, the country would have another health problem to deal with if nothing is done about the situation, since there is no space to preserve dead bodies.
