After going into self-imposed ‘exile’, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has popped up from his quietude to break his silence since his party lost the 2016 general election, to say that nobody can tame him.
According to him, he is not a coward who can be intimidated or made to live in fear, because operatives of a new government have started harassing members of his party, seizing their vehicles.
“I am not living [in] fear at all. Maybe you don’t know the name Asiedu Nketia; nobody and nothing can calm me down, I have lived through this thing before,” he noted.
The reaction of Mr. Asiedu Nketia is a result of speculations making rounds in sections of the media, following the seizure of SUV vehicles belonging to Kofi Adams, National Organisr of the NDC.
Speaking in an interview with a Kumasi-based radio station, Ultimate FM, the NDC Chief Scribe pointed out that he is not disturbed in anyway by the action of operatives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying this is not the first time such a thing is happening to him.
He said he has seen more aggressive intimidation, and yet he survived it, and therefore, there is no way he is going to be tamed under this administration.
He continued that in the face of all the intimidations, he, together with his colleagues in the NDC, mobilised themselves and dislodged the NPP from office, calling on the party to bring it on, expressing optimism that they will live up to expectation.
He explained; “I lived through [the] erstwhile Kufuor’s administration, the brutalities and harassment were worse than this. I survived, and we mobilised and overthrew that government in a subsequent election. So let them bring it on.
“Me, I think that every dark cloud has a silver lining. And every party that wins power, the very first step they take in power leads them towards opposition. So let them continue,” he cautioned.
