“Do not, for one repulse, forgo the purpose that you resolve to effect” – Shakespeare
It has been said that “Failures are just too many stepping stones to success”. It stands to reason that failure is also a powerful tool and good for success.
Being able to recognise failure is enough for one to recast a plan towards success subsequently.
Failing in a bid should, therefore serve, as a useful lesson to every person, the President-elect no exception, that he who strives to achieve a feat in life, must be ready to clear some hurdles, at times difficult ones.
The late Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills made it to the Presidency in 2008, after he had fought for it thrice.
Nana Akufo-Addo, the president–elect, had to make three conservative bids at the Presidency, but not until he was convinced that if one had to win a battle, the Lord had to be the one to fight the battle.
His victory was, therefore, upon his conviction that the “The battle is the Lord’s” -2 Chronicles 20: 1-29, and actually committed the battle into the hands of the Lord. This is the way it must be to win if the Lord is involved.
Fortunately, Nana’s case has been exceptional, in the sense that his victory had been predicted ahead of the elections, and, therefore, divine in the face of the end results.
Nana Akufo-Addo secured 5,716,036 votes (53.85%) against President John Dramani Mahama’s 4,713,277 (44.40%) to become the President. A bid he had pursued since 2008, aside his aspiration many years back to lead the elephant party.
Nana Akufo-Addo thus becomes the strongest presidential candidate since the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution of Ghana.
Strongest in the sense that at the time he entered the race in 2008, he was not even a minister of state who was vying for the presidency against President Rawlings’ vice.
In 2012, Nana Akufo-Addo also contested President Mahama, who had also been a Vice President.
In 2008, when Nana Akufo-Addo contested the presidential elections, it was his first time, while the late Prof. John Atta Mills had contested his first and second, getting 2.8 million votes and 2.75 million votes against Mr. J. A. Kufuor (2004), and Nana Akufo-Addo (2008) a first-timer.
He lost narrowly to the late President John Evans Atta Mills by 102,000, with 49.33% in the first round of 2008.
In the second round, President Mills led by 23,000, and emerged winner after the NPP had withdrawn from the third round.
In the 2012 Elections, President John Mahama secured 5,573,572 votes (50.3%) against Nana Akufo-Addo’s 5,263,286 (47.81%) to emerge winner in the presidential elections.
VICTORY WAS PREDICTED
AHEAD OF ELECTIONS
Against Nana Akufo-Addo’s conviction that the battle is of the Lord, his victory had been predicted by various men of God in the country.
As far back as March 2015, Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder of the Glorious Word Ministry International had predicted victory for the NPP and its presidential candidate in the 2016 elections.
In July this year, Prophet Ebenezer Dabedwa Bossman of the Ebenezer Trumpet Ministry at Esaase near Ashanti Akropong, predicted that the three-time presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would emerge the winner in the presidential election.
Prophet Bossman, also known Prophet Macho One, said Nana Addo would be declared the President of Ghana after the polls, because “It has been revealed to me that NPP will win power at all costs and form a government.
The Prophet stressed that Nana Akufo-Addo winning power this time is a done deal, and that change is bound to come at the December polls, and that no matter how hard some elements tried to deflate the prophecy, it would come to pass, quoting Ezekiel 24:1-18 to buttress the point that the prophesy shall come to pass, as revealed to him by God.
Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Opambuor Adarkwa Yiadom, Head Pastor of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre in Kumasi, had also predicted a change in government and indicated that if the NPP and its flagbearer had come earlier to seek God’s help, the story would have long been different many years back.
In September this year, the Open Arms Ministries/Jesus Chapel General Overseer, Apostle Kofi Nkansah-Sarkodie, indicated that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cannot be killed as was being speculated by a section of the public.
He was debunking claims that the NPP leader would die before the December elections, and stated that Nana Addo cannot be killed. “Not even Satan can kill him,” he emphasised.
On November 8, 2016, the Founder and Leader of Open Arms Ministries/Jesus Chapel in Kumasi again predicted victory, when he said that even if President John Mahama was made to be in charge of the Electoral Commission, he could not have rigged the elections to his advantage.
“The December elections would be the most free, fair, peaceful and transparent election ever to be held in the country,” he prophesised, and further predicted that the elections would be “one touch” (a landslide).
NANA’S PLEDGE

I am happy Nana Akufo-Addo has realised the divine calling to serve his nation and contribute to the growth of democracy. He has pledged to make himself available to the services of men of God to guide and direct him accordingly.
May God help the President-elect to execute his mandate to the glory of God and the admiration of all Ghanaians.
