It would be recalled that the Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante during the commissioning of the Presbyterian hospital at Assin Praso urged Pastors who want to exorcise witchcraft to tackle persons who are against the agenda 111 projects because their attitude smacks of witchcraft.
"We’ve allowed politics to dominate our lives to an extent that we do not have good hospitals... if someone says he is coming to construct 111 hospitals and you are angry about it, you are a witch. For the pastors who want to exorcise witchcraft, deal with those critics,” Rt Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante said.
Reacting to the Man of God's statement in an interview with Hotfmghana.com, Okai Attakorah Gibson labelled the former's statement as derogatory and urged him to apologise to Ghanaians.
According to him, the moderator as a man of God who heads the Presbyterian church in Ghana shouldn't have made such an unfortunate statement during his sermon.
"How could a man of God describe Ghanaians who criticize a government as witches? Ghanaians who criticize the government's priority projects are not doing so because they hate the vision of the government but they love to see projects which were started by the previous administration be completed.
"Why spend money to build 111 new hospitals when the existing hospitals lack requisite equipment and logistics? Instead of providing the existing ones with the right apparatus, this government is deceiving Ghanaians that they are going to build new ones. Go to some health facilities with a particular disease and you will come home with malaria," he reiterated
According to him, has the Presbyterian moderator forgotten that prior to the 2020 elections, several grounds were broken in the name of building hospitals within one year and none has been built?
"This is the same government who has started the 419 agenda 111 and when Ghanaians try to share their opinions, a whole Presbyterian moderator calls them as witches and wizards," he added.
He stated emphatically that Ghanaians have had enough of these political sermons from the Presbyterian moderators, not forgetting the Almighty 'Anyansafo' sermon from Prof Martey, the former Presbyterian moderator.
The NDC Sekyere Odumanse Secretary stated extensively that since the Presbyterian church is not made up of only one particular kind of political party in Ghana, he is urging the moderator to come out and apologise to Ghanaians for his unguarded speech. Read Full Story
