He suggested that the NDC is busy indulging in fake conspiracy accusations over the rigging of elections instead of focusing their attention on the job losses many Ghanaians have suffered due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
“I’m not sure NDC gets it. Ghanaians are losing their jobs, in hotels, restaurants etc, because of Covid-19. Yet, the NDC thinks what is important is a fake conspiracy to rig the 2020 polls,” Mr. Otchere Darko wrote in a Facebook post seen by MyNewsGh.com.
The NDC in a press conference on Thursday accused the National Identification Authority, Electoral Commission of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party of conspiring to rig the upcoming elections, a position that has been rejected by the governing party.
Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo believes the only thing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has wasted energy and wisdom to do since he took over power on January 7, 2017, is how to rig the 2020 elections.
“Upon assumption of office in the year 2017, president Akufo-Addo immediately set in motion his rigging agenda,” he told the media at the party’s headquarters.
According to him, this necessitated the setting up of the National Identification Authority to issue ID cards which is one of the identification cards that will be accepted during the impending compilation of the new voters’ register.
“The NIA was step up with a mandate to issue national ID cards and manage the national identification system as per the national identification act [but] it does appear that the Jean Mensa led EC and NIA are only interested in rigging the 2020 elections for President Nana Akufo-Addo,” he claimed.
