The GFA after they were given a deadline of 5th may to decide the fate of the league by CAF is set to meet the various clubs on the way forward of the 2019/20 league which has been halted by the Coronavirus pandemic which has brought the world to a standstill.
Among the possible outcomes that will emerged from the meeting will be the truncation of the current league campaign as it has been done by Kenya and some other African countries.
In Kofi Manu's opinion, the GFA should truncate the league, let Kotoko and Ashantigold represent Ghana in Africa and start making plans for the 2020/21 league season as it is still not certain when the fight against the novel Coronavirus will be won.
“Covid-19 is a natural disaster and for that matter a force majeure which you can’t blame Ghana if our league season is discontinued and of that happens Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold are the rightful clubs to claim the spot of Champions league and Confederations Cup respectively” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
“These two clubs should be representing Ghana unless they want unnecessary fight.
He added: “It has been established that the NC tier1 is as good as the national league and the CAF club competitions regulations stipulates clearly, they are the only two who can represent Ghana”
Meanwhile Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold represented Ghana in the group phase of the 2019/20 CAF inter club competitions after winning the NC Tier 1 and Tier 2 Competitions respectively. Read Full Story
