Bukom Banku noted that Bastie felt like a giant when they entered the ring to commence the fight; a development he suspected was as a result of his nemeses engaging in black magic.
The then undefeated fighter’s local dominance was ended by Bastie during a cruiserweight contest that attracted huge interest in October 2017.
Bastie earned a seventh round stoppage victory over Bukom Banku in a grudge fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena during a bout that was promoted by the Box Office Sports Promotion.
“I was surprised that Bastie looked like a giant when we entered into the ring to fight. I was asking myself so many questions because the Bastie I know wasn’t who I fought on that night.
“It was as if I was drunk because I couldn’t see anything in the ring during the fight and that is why I don’t want to fight him again,” he explained.
Bukom Banku could face sanctions by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) after failing to honour several calls by the sanctioning body to have his impending financial tussle with promoter Alex Ntiamoah solved.
Having taken an amount of GH 17,000 from the Chief Executive Officer of Box Office Sports Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, for training ahead of a rematch with Bastie, the tough-talking Bukom Banku failed to honour the bout as well as refunding the said amount.
