Wasiru, who is undefeated in 11 fights, said he was yet to get an opponent to fight because the boxers within the division were avoiding him.
In an interview with the Graphic Sports, the hard-hitting boxer said he was ready to challenge anyone who wanted to target his continental crown.
“I want to place on record that most of the fighters in the division are avoiding me and I don’t think this is healthy for the sport because we want it to be competitive. I am not afraid of anyone in the division and I’m ready to fight any of them should they make their minds to challenge me,” he said.
Wasiru has been out of the ring for the past six months since earning a knockout victory over Loren Japhet last May.
He destroyed Isaac Sackey in three rounds to snatch the WBO Africa title in last year October, but Sackey petitioned the sanctioning body over what he felt was a wrong call by Beninois referee Adorn Bertin for not effecting the mandatory eight count when he was knocked down.
When asked whether a possible rematch with Sackey was in the pipeline, Wasiru said his nemesis was not committed to fighting him because his camp was not cooperative for the bout to happen.
“My managers have been engaging Sackey’s camp over a possible fight but they seem uninterested,” he said. Read Full Story
