IGP orders interdiction of two officers over torture of suspect
The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. James Oppong Boanuh has directed the immediate interdiction of two police officers, No 38902 General Sergeant Patrick Amoako and No 46796 General Lance Corporal Isaac Marfo of Railway police station under the Koforidua District police Command.
The two officers were captured in a video torturing a suspect in police custody.
The video which went viral on social media showed the officers whipping a handcuffed and bare-chested suspect countless times.
According to The Chronicle Newspaper, the officers used the rubber material of bicycle tyres to assault the suspect who had allegedly stolen GHS1,600 from his employer.
