Attamah Larweh: I’ll work hard to earn a place in Stars

Istanbul Ba?ak?ehir defender, Joseph Atamah Larweh, says he will work hard to earn a place in the final 23-man-squad that will represent Ghana in this year’s Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) tournament to be played in Egypt.

Attamah Larweh, who was named in Coach Kwasi Appiah’s provisional 29-man squad which will start camping in Abu Dhabi from June 1, sounds optimistic about making the final team that will fight in Egypt hoping to end Ghana’s trophy drought in the continental competition.

“It’s my dream to be part of the final 23 players who will be selected for the tournament. It will not come on a silver platter, so I intend to work hard when we start preparations to merit a place in the final squad. I indeed want to be part of the team who will fight to end the trophy wait for the country,” the confident player told the Daily Graphic in a telephone interview from his Turkey base.

Larweh, who was part of the national Under-20 squad that won bronze at the 2013 FIFA?World Cup in Turkey, was elated about his latest call up because his last time with the team was in 2018.

“It always feels good to be called to serve your nation, I am grateful for the opportunity to play for the country,” he said.

The 25-year-old former Tema Youth player has been very industrious for his side in the Turkish Super league, playing 27 matches in both league and cup outings, as well as helping his team to place second in the ongoing league.

He has featured for the Stars four times and was also the deputy captain of the Black Satellites team which won bronze at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. Read Full Story
