Ghana topped its group after a 2-2 draw against DR Congo, 1-0 win over Mali and a 3-0 victory against Niger.
The Black Stars defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in the quarterfinals but found it tough against Burkina Faso in the semifinals as the Burkinabes went through with a 3-2 shootout win after the two sides have fought out a 1-1 draw.
Appiah was quizzed on Ghana’s chances of lifting the ultimate trophy and his response was positive.
“Yes, I think we have quality players (to win it). But successes does not come just because you have a quality team.”
“Its really been a long time that we won the AFCON since 1982. We all know that and it is important for us to go into the tournament with a mentality to win it.”
