Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, made this known yesterday in Accra.
He disclosed that the law was announced in October, this year by health authorities in the UAE.
According to him, the law states that approval can only be granted after a person has met the necessary guidelines.
The guidelines, he said, include completing an electronic form which can be downloaded from the website www.mohap.gov.ae, ensuring that over the counter and prescription medicine do not exceed a period of three months and one month respectively, submission of a prescription issued by a recognized physician, submission of a medical report approved by health facility, submission of copies of Emirates ID for residents and passport for visitors, confirmation of duration of stay in the UAE.
He observed that “it’s important to note that applications would be reviewed and approval given within one working day if the requirements, including the documentations, are met.”
“However persons who flout the new guidelines would not face sanctions, but their medication would be seized at the port of entry.”
