At a meeting between the NC and owners and administrators of Premier League and Division One clubs at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel last Friday, it was agreed that no club would represent Ghana in the next Africa Champions League and Confederation Cup.
However, the Porcupine Warriors appear not to be in favour of the decision and have subsequently written to the NC to allow them to participate in the continental competition.
The Bechem CEO was not amused by the decision of the NC and told an Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM, that the decision should have been mutual between the club and the committee because he thought if Kotoko felt they were ready for the competition they should be given the chance.
“Let’s support Kotoko to go and compete in Africa; there is nothing like ideal time to do anything. We need to have a team competing in Africa,” he stated.
He further advised the NC to continue with the league. “Let us continue the league so that the Normalisation Committee can use it as a case study.”
Teams such as Medeama Sporting Club and AshantiGold Football Club who were on top of the table at the time the league was suspended, also claimed they were also ready to go to Africa until last Friday’s joint decision ended their dreams. Read Full Story
