With the group standings tight with all four teams on three points, but separated by goals, Match Day Three was to enable the teams make inroads, but in the end, the two teams in action, Ethiopia and Kenya managed a goalless draw, and thus increased their point build up to four each. Kenya however, top on better goal aggregate.
With the other group game between Ghana and Sierra Leone at the Kumasi Stadium cancelled as a result of a FIFA ban on Sierra Leone, Kenya and Ethiopia would dominate at the top, until action resumes for the other group members.
The two countries will lock horns again in the fourth round of the qualifiers which Kenya host in Nairobi on October 14.
The game saw the return of Tottenham star, Victor Wanyama for Kenya's Harambee Stars, but the Walias, determined to hold their own and make the most of their home advantage, kept midfielder at bay.
