The match, to be played early in the morning, will be used by the two sides as part of their preparations for their respective international assignments: the Queens, preparing to host the Africa Women’s Nations Cup and the Maidens, the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
The Maidens are hoping they can avenge the loss they suffered at the hands of the elder sisters last Monday when they were thrashed 6-0 in a similar exercise.
Elizabeth Owusuaa, Jane Ayieyam scored a brace each for the Queens while Leticia Zikpi and Grace Asantewaa also scored for the Queens.
Coach Evans Adotey in an interview that they were not so concerned about the outcome of their trial matches as the exercise is to test the strength and weaknesses of the team before they move into the final stage of their preparations.
“We intend to play a couple of top-notch friendlies in the final stage of our preparations. So when we line up against other sides now, we don’t focus too much on the outcome of those matches, but we want to find out if the girls are getting what we have been practicing right.
“Playing against the Queens on Friday will be yet another exercise, we have a checklist we will be looking out for and not really the results,” Coach Adotey told the Graphic Sports.
The Maidens are expected to leave for the USA by the middle of October for a training tour of the USA before continuing to Uruguay for the November 13 to December 1, tournament. Read Full Story
