According to him, the accusations were meant to tarnish his image because of his insistence on due process in the award of contracts.
Speaking on Adom FM’s anti-corruption show, Fabewoso Wednesday, Mr Agyekum said all the invoices he approved for the purchase of computers and printers were recommended by an Evaluation Panel at the assembly.
He stated that the invoices of the inflated cost of the computers and printers were forged by detractors, led by the presiding member of the Assembly.
The Asuogyaman District, for the past week, has been boiling with accusations and counter-accusations that the DCE has misappropriated funds of the assembly.
The situation has created tension in the area with the possibility of it escalating into something untoward.
The case has been forwarded to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further investigations.
The DCE maintained that he did due diligence before signing for the purchase thus EOCO will exonerate him.
Mr Agyekum appealed for calm as EOCO works to expose the corrupt officials at the district assembly.
