The Phoenix Rising Star midfielder was named among a list of players who played very influential roles for their respective teams over the weekend.
Awako, a product of Heart of Lions, was one of the key players when his side beat Colorado Springs Switchback FC 4-0 last Saturday.
The former, TP Mazembe player scored for his side before providing two assists as well as completing eight key passes during his side’s win.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian becomes the second Ghanaian to be nominated for this honour after Harrison Afful who was also nominated in July.
Awako started his career in the US Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2017 after spending five seasons with Congolese side TP Mazembe and has quickly settled in playing very often for the US second-tier side.
He plays alongside diminutive Ghanaian midfielder, Solomon Asante, and former Chelsea great and Ivorian international Didier Drogba in the same club.
The Ghanaian midfielder was a member of the Black Satellites team that won the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
