According to him, the various teacher unions are agitated at the move.
Mr. Akamba speaking on Accra based UTV and monitored by MyNewsGh.com said the government had forced the deduction of the amount on the teachers without their consent, adding that it has the tendency to disrupt and destabilise the front of teachers in the country.
This prompted some of the teachers to come out and indicate that they were not consulted before the implementation of the deduction.
Mr. Akamba said the government must come clear on the actual purpose for the deductions in order to restore calm on the teachers’ front. The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) a couple of months ago announced the deduction of 10 cedis from the salaries of teachers for an insurance policy for the teachers.
