The operation, which is part of an exercise to enforce the excise tax stamp policy took the officials to Game and Shoprite at the Kumasi City Mall and Opoku Trading in Adum.
The shop managers were cautioned and advised to affix the tax stamp before displaying or selling the drinks and that if they are found culpable next time, they would be arrested and prosecuted.
The leader of the Enforcement Team, Mr Yaw Boamah, told Graphic Online that the decision to caution shop owners and remove the drinks from the shelves was part of the education process.
“When we come here next time, we will not caution but arrest and prosecute” he said urging consumers to also boycott drinks that do not have tax stamps to force shop owners to abide by the law.” he said.
