The two personalities in these new categories would include journalists, radio and television presenters, musicians, actors and sports personalities who run campaigns that benefit their community. The winners in these categories will each receive a plaque, a certificate and monetary award which will be invested in any CSR project of their choice, organisers say.
Like previous editions, MTN Ghana Foundation is urging members of the general public to nominate respective individuals to be honored.
Prospective participants are required to fill their nomination forms at www.mtn.com.gh or pick a form at any MTN service centre nationwide before 17th November 2017. Alternatively nominations can be filed via WhatsApp number 055-422-2222.
“After the collection of entries on 17th of November 2017, the projects submitted will be shortlisted by a panel of judges. After which a team will be dispatched into the communities to verify the projects. The work of the 10 shortlisted finalists will be broadcast as part of a 13-week TV series.
"Selected winners for the categories of health, education and economic empowerment will be recognized and given GH?30,000 each to expand their projects and impact more people in their communities. The grand award of GH?100,000 will be given to the finalist who will emerge as the 2017 MTN Hero of Change,” a statement from the foundation said.
MTN Heroes of Change was first launched in July 2013 with the aim of identifying and recognizing selfless people who continue to sacrifice their time and resources to improve their communities and brighten lives.
Since its inception, it has won a number of awards including 2016 IPR Best Community Relations Programme of the Year and CSR Program of the Year 2015 by the Head of State Awards (HoSA) Scheme.
