Douglas Owusu, the Ghanaian-Serbian winger, has joined Hapoel Tel Aviv from Red Star in a €2.2m transfer. The 20-year-old has signed a contract with the Israeli club running until 30 June 2030.
Owusu plays primarily on the right wing and is left-footed, giving Hapoel Tel Aviv a wide attacking player who prefers to operate from the opposite side of his stronger foot. Born in Cape Coast, Ghana, he holds Ghanaian and Serbian nationality.
The move follows a trophy-winning 2025-26 campaign with Red Star, during which Owusu was part of the squad that won both the Serbian league title and the Serbian Cup. He now switches from Serbia’s top flight to Israel’s Ligat ha’Al after completing the move on 5 August 2026.
Owusu’s previous major success came with FK Radnik Surdulica, where he won the Serbian Second League title in the 2024-25 season. That achievement preceded his time at Red Star and marked another league triumph in successive seasons.
His transfer fee of €2.2m makes the move a significant investment for Hapoel Tel Aviv. Owusu’s market value is listed at €4.5m, while his new long-term contract extends his stay with the Israeli club through the end of June 2030.
The winger stands 1.65 metres tall and joins Hapoel at the age of 20, having built his early senior career in Serbian football. His honours record includes three major domestic titles: the Serbian Second League with Radnik Surdulica, followed by the Serbian championship and Serbian Cup with Red Star.
Hapoel Tel Aviv have completed the signing as the club’s new right-sided attacking option, with Owusu’s switch bringing his time at Red Star to an end. The transfer was completed on 5 August 2026.
