Ghana winger Fatawu Issahaku set for Ipswich Town medical ahead of £20 million move

Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is edging closer to a move to Premier League returnees Ipswich Town, with the winger set to undergo his mandatory medical later this week.

Issahaku, who enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Leicester City last season, has attracted significant interest from several Premier League clubs, including West Ham United and Everton, who monitored his situation.

However, Ipswich Town, who are keen to make a strong impact in the upcoming campaign following their return to the English top flight, have won the race to secure the services of the talented Ghanaian attacker.

According to reports, Ipswich Town and Leicester City have reached a verbal agreement over the transfer of Issahaku, with the deal expected to be worth more than £20 million.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands that the enterprising Ghanaian winger will undergo his medical later this week before completing the much-anticipated move to Portman Road.

Despite Leicester City suffering relegation from the Championship, the pacey winger emerged as one of the club’s standout performers last season, producing impressive numbers with nine goals and eight assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

Fatawu joined Leicester City from Sporting CP on an initial loan deal in 2023 before the move was made permanent following the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League.

Since then, the 20-year-old has continued to develop into one of Ghana’s most exciting attacking talents, earning recognition for his pace, creativity and ability to influence matches in the final third.

The winger will now be hoping to complete his switch to Ipswich Town and make an immediate impact as the club prepares for another challenging Premier League campaign.
