Ghana-eligible striker Malik Pimpong scores twice on unofficial Eintracht Frankfurt debut

Ghana-eligible forward Malik Pimpong enjoyed a dream start to life at Eintracht Frankfurt after scoring twice on his unofficial debut in the club's emphatic 7-1 pre-season victory over FC Giessen on Saturday.

The 18-year-old, who joined the Bundesliga side from Danish champions FC Midtjylland earlier this month, announced his arrival in style by producing an eye-catching second-half display.

Pimpong, the son of former Black Stars striker Razak Pimpong, was introduced at the start of the second half and wasted little time making an impact.

The powerful forward opened his account for Frankfurt in the 57th minute before adding his second of the evening 12 minutes later to complete an impressive cameo performance.

The teenage striker came close to an even more memorable debut, with German outlet Hessenschau reporting that he also struck both the post and the crossbar during the one-sided friendly encounter.

Frankfurt dominated the match from the outset, with Younes Ebnoutalib, Marvin Dills and Jonathan Burkardt, who grabbed a brace, putting the Bundesliga outfit firmly in control before the interval.

Love Arrhov added another goal after the break, while Pimpong's brace helped complete the 7-1 rout before Giessen netted a late consolation.

The impressive display comes just days after Pimpong completed his move to Frankfurt on a long-term contract running until June 2031.

Pimpong arrives in Germany with an outstanding reputation after a prolific spell with Midtjylland's academy.

Last season, he finished as the top scorer in Denmark's U19 league with 20 goals in 26 matches, ending the campaign with 30 goals across all competitions and earning recognition as one of the country's brightest young prospects.

The striker has also represented Denmark at U17, U18 and U19 levels but remains eligible to play for Ghana through his father, Razak Pimpong, who featured for the Black Stars at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
