Ghanaian defender Foster Gyamfi has joined Finish topflight side IFK Mariehamn.
The 22-year-old signed a two-year contract to join the Veikkausliiga side from Ghana Premier League outfit Bechem United.
Gyamfi arrives with some European experience, having previously played for Esbjerg fB and Zbrojovka Brno in Denmark and Czech Republic respectively.
"I am very happy and grateful to have signed for IFK Mariehamn. This is an exciting opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my career. From everything I have seen and heard, it seems to be a fantastic club and I am looking forward to getting started," said the versatile defender.
"I am a left-footed defender who likes to build up the game from the back and at the same time values ââdefensive work. I work hard for the team, love defending and always give my best in every training session and in every match. I am ambitious, committed and hungry to continue developing," he added.
Gyamfi played a vital role at Bechem United last season, making 16 Premier League appearances for the Hunters as they enjoyed a decent campaign.
"The idea was that Foster would have been here already in January, but due to various delays, the transfer was instead completed now during the summer window. Foster is a left-footed center-back who is also comfortable as a left-back. I think we will get a welcome addition to our defense with his arrival," sporting director and CEO of the club, Jimmy Wargh.
