Ghana head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren believes the balance of youth and experience in the Black Queens squad will be vital to their progress as they continue to develop into a more competitive force on the global stage.
Reflecting on the evolving team structure after the friendly defeat to England, Bjorkegren highlighted the emergence of several promising young players who are already pushing for key roles.
“We saw Abigail Kim come in, and then we have Mary Amponsah, who didn’t play today, but she is young, really a good player,” he said. “Give her one, two years, and she will be there as well.”
The Swede admitted that the team still needs more attacking firepower but praised the collective qualities that define the current group.
“Of course, you always want to ask for a little bit more. Sometimes we need a little bit more punch,” he added. “We know that our strength in this team is that we have a hardworking group, a group without any big weaknesses, I will say.”
“You can see it in the opposite way that we don’t have this massive world class player, but at the same time, like I said, our strength is our depth.”
