South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has named his final 25-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with two uncapped youngsters included in a group that strikes a balance between continuity and fresh talent.
Centre-back Tylon Smith, who plays for Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship, and Club Brugge winger Shandre Campbell, who has featured in the UEFA Champions League this season, have both earned their first call-ups.
"We have to look to the future too, and have players who will train with us and get a feel of the national team," Broos said, adding that there would only be minor changes to this squad going into the 2026 World Cup.
There is a return for Elias Mokwana, currently based in Saudi Arabia, while Burnley forward Lyle Foster also makes the list. Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners is among three players placed on standby. Themba Zwane misses out as he works his way back from injury, and Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi also does not feature.
The final squad includes nine players from Orlando Pirates and five from Sundowns. South Africa will face Angola, Egypt and Zimbabwe in Group B, starting their campaign on December 22 against Angola.
